Sorry for the bad quality of some of the photos - I was using an older camera.
Anyway, this is the German bible I got in Astoria this summer at an antique store for $15.00. It was published in 1857 and has all it’s original pages and bindings. The front and back covers are leather covered wood that used to have a metal clasp but it broke off. Parts of the latches are still there but not the hooking parts. It’s in fantastic shape though it was clearly well-loved by someone. I especially like the wording in the back from the original owner. Could someone tell me what it means?
I’ve always loved old things, and bibles are on top for me - I’m not religious, so to speak, I just think religious items hold a higher level of specialness to them, if that makes sense. And this bible is German, just like me! Woo!
